Abstrak

This study was conducted in June–July 2012 to find out the latest Rafflesia zollingeriana distribution and its population structure in Meru Betiri National Park. There are 19 population of R. zollingeriana from 26 colonies and 152 individual including 9 new distribution. R. zollingeriana population is predominantly found on the hillside, away from the beach. Some populations were near the settlement (enclaves) and in the jungle zone near the rehabilitation zone. That population consists of blooming flower (7.89%), live buds (63.16%) and the died buds (28.95%). Living buds sized 0.1 to 5 cm diameter dominate the population (50%), while the big sized buds ready to bloom (diameter more than 15 cm) is only 0.42%. The success rate of buds to bloom are low, so the population sustainability is threatened and needs to be conserved, either in situ or ex situ. Suggestions on its conservation, both in situ and ex situ presented in this paper.
